Leaving Scranton, The Electric City

Made a friend with the Conductor
Terry & his buddy, the Engineer

Today found us back at Steamtown to work on Terry's bucket list of a walking tour of the shop behind the Roundhouse - yes, I do know what a Roundhouse is. Terry, of course, filmed the tour and will begin inserting a narration soon - remember the documentary. It was really quite informative. Just grateful that we were able to leave without Terry donning a pair of overalls and an Engineer's hat.
And, yes, this is a Roundhouse!

Cathedral of St. Peter
Electric Company

Before leaving Scranton, we decided to explore some of the other aspects of the city. The architecture is magnificent thanks to a strong preservation movement. I only wish we had that kind of effort in Hartford. We got to see the Courthouse, the Electric Company - with a really neat sign. Who knew that Scranton was known as the Electric City. Another beautiful structures is the Cathedral of St. Peter, originally established in 1863 and re-designed in 1884. The interior is equally as impressive. We stopped in for a visit, but could not photograph much since Mass was about to begin. We never got to see the building where the exterior shots of  The Office took place, perhaps on a return visit to this interesting city.
