On the Eve of the Fall Adventure

It is 10:00 p.m. The night before Our Fall adventure begins. Our bags are packed; I think we have a dozen; we look as if we're going for a month - oh, wait, we are. And we're ready to go - well, just a few small details in the morning. We have a check list to be sure that we bring everything we need. This, of course, only guarantees that, a half-hour into the trip, we will remember that we forgot toothbrushes or the cell phone charger or the directions to our second destination. But there will be no turning back, just a lot of salty language coming from the driver. My role as passenger will be to offer words of assurance that all will be fine.

You know how things are never simple Well, in addition to our trip, we are also in the process of replacing some of our living room furniture. Of course, the four items that we purchased won't be delivered til we are away. We gave instructions for the store to hold the order til we get back. I am sure that there won't be a problem with that. - she says keeping her fingers crossed. We also needed to remove the current furniture pieces before delivery. So, we thought we would donate them to a consignment store that gives the proceeds to Habitat for Humanity. However, you can guess when the earliest they could pick up our stuff is- yup, tomorrow, of course - the day we leave! Our dear next-door neighbor came to the rescue and has offered to oversee the pick-up for us. The shop agreed to this arrangement and simply asked us to put labels on the furniture that is to go. Now if all goes well, we will only be minus four pieces of living room furniture and a rug on our return. Our neighbors know that, if the beds and dining room set begin to walk out the front door, something is not quite right. But I am sure it will all go as planned - What could possibly go wrong when things are labeled?!
