The Fall Adventure Begins

Ready to roll...
The goal was to leave at the crack of dawn; well it was the crack of dawn on the west coast...so... we were right on time. By the way, Habitat for Humanity did come for our furniture and, under the watchful eye of our neighbor, removed the labeled pieces. So, when we return, no one should plan to visit us for a while since we will be without seating in our living room until new furniture arrives - and you know how that goes.

Back to the travels. Apparently someone devised a plan to have Interstate 84 be narrowed to one lane every 10 - 15 miles. Practiced some quick maneuvers shifting lanes. And, by the way, someone else needs to begin a highway fundraiser for the state of Pennsylvania - just saying.  Other than those minor inconveniences and the missing the "bear right" instructions and having to exit and do that well-known off-the-highway-hoping-for-a-re-entry nearby thing - the drive went well. I'm always impressed how beautiful upstate NY is and how majestic the mountains and rivers are there and in PA as we cross this countryside.

Terry enters Steamtown - the first time in 25 years!

To say that Terry was happy to be visiting Steamtown in Scranton would be an understatement. And, I must say, that it is a very impressive National Park. Of course, a massive thunderstorm came through which set off weather alerts on my phone to take shelter.I see this Fall Adventure may turn out to be an adventure, indeed.

Terry narrating his Steamtown Documentary

Terry actually videotaped and narrated his entire visit, describing every train exhibit and explaining its meaning in detail. I'm thinking of approaching Steamtown to see if they would like to add it to their video presentations in their theater. Or maybe submit it as  a Sundance Film Festival Short Documentary.
We will be returning in the morning to complete the tour. Details to follow.
If only this would fit on his train layout...
